There is no shortage of evidence that Wisconsin’s health care prices have risen far more rapidly than average over the last two decades. A 2005 United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) report using 2001 Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) claims data from” several large PPOs” found that found that 8 of the 10 highest-priced metro areas were in Wisconsin. A similar ranking of hospital prices put Milwaukee and La Crosse at 5th and 10th respectively.
